Rights and Independence – The Story of Disability Direct 

1st, 8th, 9th, and 10th September

Explore the history of disability in Derby and the impact of the charity on local people’s lives over the past 30 years through an interactive timeline, oral histories and poetry/spoken word commissions.

Disability Direct, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, working with The Quad and The Museum of Making will be holding 2 events to celebrate the 30th birthday of the charity.

The first event will be held on 1st September at the Museum of Making with poetry and spoken word performances from disabled artists.

The second event will be held at The Quad and will be open for 3 days.

At this event you can watch interviews with volunteers, staff, services users and the founders of the charity as well as see a timeline charting the progress.

Everyone is welcome and there is no charge to attend.

1st Sept – Museum of Making 7pm to 9.30pm

8th to 10th Sept – The Quad midday to 6pm
